September is here, leaves are starting to change in many places (not here in South Florida, unfortunately), and it’s fall romance season! Who can resist the warm, cozy scenes by the fire, walking under the falling leaves, enjoying a hot fall beverage, maybe some ghosts, and hopefully some spice in your reads….So here are five fall romance books to get you into autumn reading.

Meet my latest obsession—90s vibes (from this GenX/teen of the 90s), fall in Vermont, hot and charming single dad, the BEST dog sidekick, slow burn, neighbors. I loved the whole fall romance story, but the dog and epilogue really put me over the edge into the OBSESSED category. If you love a heartfelt fall read with some spice too, this one is for you!
City girl Michelle temporarily moves to small-town Vermont in the fall of 1997 to run her family’s B&B while her dad grieves the loss of her mom, and her sister finishes college. Definitely a fish out of water, she gets off to a rough start and seriously doubts her ability to keep the inn above water. Enter sexy single dad, baker, and neighbor Cliff, who jumps in to help her (even when she’s a little standoffish). And enter LOTS of chemistry…
I loved how these two opposites gravitated toward each other, supported and helped each other work through their issues, and made a fantastic team to thrive among obstacles, including navigating two very different kids, an ex-wife, Michelle’s issues with her family, and all the craziness that comes with being a small business owner.
Rocket, Michelle’s dog that worms his way into everyone’s heart and definitely has mine (of course, I’m a sucker for a dog so there’s that), is the cutest pet sidekick and a legit character in the story too.
This fall romance book one will easily go down as one of my favorite reads of the year.

What a fun fall romance about a prickly textile designer/artist and a sweet tech-guy-turned-squash farmer set in small-town Indiana!
Sadie left her rural hometown for the design world in LA and never looked back, escaping her narcissistic mother and meh father for her own life. But when dear old dad heads to Florida to care for his ailing brother, he begs Sadie to come home and tend to his pumpkins so they can once again win the giant pumpkin contest.
Brilliant Josh made bank on his video game design but found the tech world empty and superficial. So he decides to try his hand at small-town farming and a more peaceful life, next door to Sadie’s dad. Until Sadie comes crashing in.
Right off the bat, she’s prickly as all get-out and he’s the classic kindhearted golden retriever, and somehow it seems to work. Only, seriously, she’s a pain in the you-know-what and just unnecessarily mean at times. Sadie’s the taker, Josh is the giver, though it gets slightly more complicated than that. I loved the back and forth, the banter, the small-town vibes, the fun. The characters learn and grow, and the chemistry is on fire. And it goes from slow-ish burn to 1000 degrees in the snap of a finger in this fall romance!
I listened to the audiobook and Adelaide Fernport’s narration was fantastic!

Brimming with ghostly fun, delight, and romance, Ghost Business is the perfect sequel to Haunted Ever After and easily one of my favorite recent reads. Jen DeLuca brings us back to the breezy coastal town of Boneyard Key, notorious as the most haunted town in Florida. Sophie’s been running Boneyard Key’s ghost tours for years—she’s devoted herself to learning about the town’s ghosts and their histories, and sharing the stories with her tour groups.
All is well in Sophie’s world until smug New York businessman Tristan jumps into the scene to expand his national ghost tour company. His one-size-fits-all script teems with made-up ghost stories designed to entertain and rake in the money. Tristan is bound and determined to make a hefty profit even if it means driving Sophie out of business. They’re instantly attracted to each other, but also instant enemies and rivals….
Ghost Business was such fun! I love a spooky romance, especially one that’s not scary, and loved Sophie and Tristan. Each starts to realize the other isn’t so bad and that they have reasons for what they’re doing. Getting their backstories added richness and depth to the book. Watching their relationship develop—in the midst of all the delightful side characters—was enchanting. As a Florida native, I was so charmed by the town and local references—Jen DeLuca has the Florida experience down, especially hurricane parties, Publix, humidity, and brutal summers. The found family elements also made it extra warm and special.

The Cinnamon Spice Inn was such a cute fall romance, with all the warmth of a close-knit small town and some fabulous characters!
Madison left her small hometown of Maple Falls for the bright lights and career possibilities of New York, leaving behind her boyfriend and true love Zach several years ago, along with her family’s bed and breakfast. Now, an anonymous note begs her to come back and help save the inn, which has fallen on hard times. And now here she is, with memories flooding back in and overwhelming her.
Town handyman Zach has spent years trying to get over Madison, with no luck. Now that she’s back, he wills himself not to fall for her again (also to no avail) as he’s helping her family rebuild the inn. But there’s so much feeling and chemistry from the start…
I adored all the small-town vibes and features of this fall romance and could just feel the amazing fall season, Halloween, fall leaves (that I never see as I live in coastal Florida), and northern small town vibes. The side characters really made it for me too, from the nosy older ladies to Madison’s grandma to all the rescue animals. However, the repeated miscommunications were a bit frustrating and you would think the characters (especially Madison) would have learned their lessons and maybe figured out how to have grown-up conversations but….still, I really enjoyed this book and all the vibes it brought.
Andi Eloise and Brandon Francis did a fantastic job with the narration, and I’d definitely listen to more of their books too.
